What is the AI Learning Companion?
The AI Learning Companion, is a powerful learning tool created specifically for students that functions like a private tutor and study coach. This tool can generate content based on trained course material with which students can quiz themselves or request help with specific topics.
The Learning Companion has two built in features My Tutor and Quiz me on. By default, neither of these are available to students until you choose to enable the AI Learning Companion for students. Click on Enable AI Learning Companion for Students button in the AI Course Assistant block to enable it.
My Tutor:
This tool is designed to help students actively learn and understand a topic by engaging them in a personalized, interactive, and supportive conversation based on course material topics.
Quiz Me On...:
This activity is designed to help students review and reinforce their understanding of a specific topic through a structured multiple-choice quiz. After each response, students receive immediate feedback to support learning and reflection. The quiz is delivered one question at a time to encourage focus and engagement. The format is intended to be interactive, self-paced, and supportive of independent learning.
As students interact with the tool they will be able to select any content that you have chosen to train to guide the interaction. It is important to select content to train to ensure they see it as an option.
How to use My Tutor:
- Click on My Tutor within the AI Learning Companion block.

The Course Modules block pops up listing all the course materials that have currently been selected to be trained.
- Click on one of the links to participate in an interactive tutor session.
- Within the My Tutor screen, you are prompted to respond to the question
- A response appears with a follow-up question to respond to.
The interactive session continues as long as you wish. Upon completion you have the option to Summarize Chat and Download Chat.
How to use Quiz me on…
Even though the quiz is designed specifically for students, as an instructor you can use the AI quiz tool as a student to gain insight to the student experience.
- Click on Quiz Me On within the AI Learning Companion block
- The Course Modules block pops up listing all the course materials that are AI trained
- Click on one of the links to participate in an interactive quiz session
- Within the Quiz Me On screen, you are prompted to respond to the quiz question
